Joan Cobb wrote the music for 13 of the songs, and the words for 11. CONDOR, CONDOR was written by Mary Elizabeth Moore, a student of Joan’s, when she was 11 years old. Victor Tucker wrote the words of WHALES ARE CHUBBY when he was 8 years old. The words of VAQUITA CHIQUITA were written by Maris Sidenstecker II and her mother, Maris Sidenstecker I. They founded Save the Whales when Maris II was 14 years old. It is a non-profit organization that educates children all over the world on how to help restore the oceans and sea creatures to their natural state. The U.S. Navy and others are lacing the oceans with low frequency sonar sound waves that disorient whales and other sea mammals as they depend on sound to communicate and find food. The sonar bursts their ear drums, leading to a painful death. The main use of sonar is for detecting enemy submarines. War is the biggest polluter of our planet! Why not place submarine warfare in the same category as poison gas and outlaw it internationally? By destroying the oceans and sea mammals, we are destroying 75% of our planet that belongs to all people and all sea creatures. We are all inter-connected!

The design on the cover of SONGS TO HEAL OUR PLANET is the same as the logo in the upper left corner of this page. It represents the balance of the polarities found in music and in all life. It is only through balancing the polarities of yin and yang (feminine and masculine), the spatial brain and the language brain, that we will manifest and experience the harmony that is our birthright as human beings. We need to stop relying so heavily on technology and give compassion and protection to our entire planet.

The 14 songs of SONGS TO HEAL OUR PLANET are written for children to sing everywhere. The messages of the songs will help children grow up with the attitudes and abilities to help our planet in these critical times of the 21st century. In order to minimize the expense of buying the song books, and to save paper and trees, teachers of children everywhere are given permission by Delta Wave Press to photocopy the songs freely. Individual lead sheets are available on www.savethewhales.org and can be downloaded, as can individual songs from the CD.
